What is your most memorable childhood book and why?

My favourites were the Richard Scarry series, what's yours? What is your most memorable childhood book and why?
I second Matilda by Roald Dahl. :)

It came as a great comfort because I hated (and still hate) how some adults seem to think they know everything and are superior just because they are older. I know tons of kids out there who have more common sense than their parents...
My favourite was Bimbo and Topsy by Enid Blyton!

In fact pretty much anything by her had me entranced as a child :)What is your most memorable childhood book and why?
harry potter. i read it in 3rd grade (about 7 years ago) and it really opened the path to a multitude of different genres and higher standards in what i read. What is your most memorable childhood book and why?
I hated books as a kid, although I love 'em now

The first I read was Mary Poppins and I still love that series :) (6-7th grade)
The velveteen rabbit
Matilda by Roald Dahl - I loved the story and at the time I believed it was truly possible to develop telekinesis, by reading a lot of books. :D Took me a few years to realize it's not , but it did get me to read quite a few books. :D:D:D Finally when I was a bit older I realized it wasn't only impossible, but not what the author said at all. It appears the girl was just studious and simply had telekinesis. :D
Where the Wild Things Are. I was about 4 years old and in kindergarten, it was Christmas and the bloke dressed in Santa Clause clothes pulled it out of his big red bag and gave it to me. One of my earliest memories. Getting Where the Wild Things Are from Santa himself, does it get better than that? %26lt;3
My fave books as a kid:

Ralph S Mouse series

Loved Ralph, he was so cute and the stories were cute

Bunnicula series

I loved the whole idea of a vegatable vampire bunny XD

A Cricket in Times Square

Just liked the characters, and the idea that something so small could have such an impact :)

Grimm's Fairy Tales

Love fairy tales, still do

Hans Christian Anderson

Loved some of his stories

Velveteen Rabbit

I loved this story as a kid, the idea that toys became real through a child's love

Charlotte's Web

Loved the story and setting, loved Charlotte %26lt;3

(hate spiders in real life though hehe) XD

Choose Your Own Adventure books

These books were awesome!!! I used to fold the corners down at significant turning points, finish the story and then go back to that page and choose the other one :D

Encyclopedia Brown

I loved trying to solve the mysteries ^^

Chronicles of Narnia series

I loved the idea that you could get to another world from hidden points in our ordinary world, plus magic and talking animals :D

good question!! brings back memories :D
