Parents of babies-preschool who are your favorite children's authors for this age?

My son will be three next month. We love the Boynton Books and he is nuts about all the Richard Scarry books, he has The Best First Book Ever and he has read it since he was a baby to the point it is threadbare,. I usually get it for toddler birthday presents and its always a hit. What are your kid's faves?Parents of babies-preschool who are your favorite children's authors for this age?
The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

Olivia by Ian Falconer

Madeline and Fancy Nancy books

Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin

Make Way for Ducklings (Picture Puffins) by Robert McCloskey

Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig

The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton
My daughter is 2 and we don't have a fav author. We go the library every saturday and she always picks out books with bears, her fav animal, in them lol, and I usually pick out a book with whatever I'm working on with her, it's been counting books the last couple of weeks. She loves books, she has a little collection at home, and she loves going to the library more then going to the park.Parents of babies-preschool who are your favorite children's authors for this age?
i'm too far beyond baby books to make a good list, but for preschoolers i think the elephant and piggie books (Mo Willems) are genius. marilyn sadler's alistair books are great. frank asch and his moonbear books, too. i love pouring over anno books with my kids and talking about the pictures.

and that's as far as i got before so many other contenders came to mind that i decided a list was hopeless.....Parents of babies-preschool who are your favorite children's authors for this age?
My son loved loved loved Richard Scarry when he was 2 or 3 years old -- he's 5 and still loves it! :)

My 3-year-old daughter absolutely loves anything by this author named Melanie Watt (her books are really cute and silly "Scaredy Squirrel" and "Chester" are her favorites).
Shel Silverstein! Can't go wrong with The Giving Tree or any of his books of poems.
Does Walt Disney count?

My youngest is 12mos. and I read him Winnie the Pooh more than anything.
Dr Seuss!
