Q: Where can I find the children's book that has stories about Grandfather Groundhog and his woodland friends?
The book I am looking for was a book about woodland animals. They included Grandfather Groundhog, Danny Mouse, Freddy Fox and Granny Fox, and others. I read it when I was 5 years old, which is about 46-47 years ago. It was illustrated in color. It followed the months of the year. In January there was a tale appropriate to winter. In July there was Grandfather Groundhog's Fourth of July Tizzy, and so on. Also, this lovely book was
sprinkiled with the poems of Christina Rosetti (I think that's right). I hope this helps you.

This hardback book was written by Thornton W. Burgess, illustrated by Phoebe Erickson, and published in 1955, by Grosset %26amp; Dunlap. It is approx. 9 .50" x 13 .00", and has approx. 32 unnumbered pages, it is x-library, and is in fair to good condition. The book has all of the normal library markings, the boards show wear with all of the corners turned, the spine is taped, scribble on inside of front board, there are a number of pages tears on the bottom of every page in the book and there is no doubt that this book has been well read, but would make a nice reading copy because of the lovely illustration and nice animal stories. Delightful stories about animals and creatures of the natural world arranged by the seasons of the year and the stories include: "Spring Gossip", "Little Pete has a Scare", Johnny Chuck's Spring Awakening", "A Butterfly's Clothing", "Be Polite to the Skunks", "Peter Rabbit and Mr. Toad", "Two Happy Little Bears", "Who Paints the Leaves?", "Their First Bath", "Baby Bears", and others.
